Greetings from Montana
Yes, we have had snow, about 2 feet of it the first week of October. It is gone, but it won’t be long until we have another nice, thick white coating on everything. Stay warm!
We have been so busy this month. I sent a brief, brief newsletter mid October telling everyone about the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Fundraiser; now known as the World Quilt Federation Smackdown. The little quilts were very well received at International Quilt Festival in Houston and you can get the latest information about the auction at http://www.alzquilts.org
John would love your vote in the Viewer’s Choice; please consider voting for his little quilt -Vote Early and Vote Often!
Our October shows, which fell on the same weekend this year, are now history. John drove to Houston for International Quilt Festival and Brooke drove to the San Francisco Bay area for the Pacific International Quilt Festival. Both shows were good and we always meet interesting quilters, new vendor friends, see quilts that are just spectacular and eat too much. Brooke’s biggest travel surprise was being given a room already occupied by a somewhat startled man. John and Kate seemed to fare well with no bad travel problems, although, like any sane driver, John hates driving in the freezing rain.
SCHOOL OF THREADOLOGY – I just learned that there are openings in John’s November Storm at Sea class at Superior Threads’ fancy new building in St. George, Utah. Those of you who live near southern Utah need to hurry and sign up for this great opportunity. (Or you can fly in to Las Vegas - see Superior Threads website for more info.)
The class rooms are brand new and conveniently located right by all those spools and spools of gorgeous thread. The class is November 11 – 13, 2009. Two days are conducted by Bob and Heather Purcell and John’s workshop is November 12. Learning about thread from two experts and taking the Storm at Sea class in a great setting is really a good deal. Here is Superior Threads’ website http://www.superiorthreads.com Go to the Education section and hurry – once everyone finds out there is room in the class, it will fill up fast!
For a look at John’s class project for the popular Storm at Sea class, go to our website http://www.flynnquilt.com, click on “Teaching Information” and then Class Projects.
DISCOUNT ON THREAD STANDS – Speaking of thread, we have a lot of our sturdy, straight forward thread stands on hand. Use Discount Code 20 and get 20% off the thread stand which can be used with either small or big core spools. The offer is good while the current supply lasts!
DISCOUNT ON A PRE-CUT KIT - And when I look in the storage drawers for the laser pre-cut kits, I see quite a few Spinning Color Wheel kits. This kit makes a good size project, 48” x 60” and is very pretty. It was featured in Quiltmaker Magazine in 2007 and was designed by Kate Flynn Nichols. For a closer look, visit the Catalog at http://www.flynnquilt.com Use Discount Code 20 for $10 off this first quality kit, good while the current supply lasts!
We are so looking forward to a few weeks off from show preparation, class preparation and deadlines! I have a little embroidery project I am enjoying and John is finishing up UFOs right and left. Even though the busy holiday season is coming soon, we hope you have a chance to immerse yourself pleasantly in something creative and relaxing - piecing and quilting come to mind! Take care!
Thanks for your continuing support; we appreciate you!
